Description

CGR was commissioned by Aqaba Container Terminal (ACT) to complete the detailed design of a new RTG operated container yard, the first phase of their major development works.

The work in this first stage of the development involved:

• Specification of site investigation works for topographic surveys and geotechnical works
• Detailed design of the pavement for the new RTG operated container yard
• Design of drainage, services and miscellaneous works
• Preparation of tender drawings for the project
• Preparation of the Technical Specification and Bill of Quantities for the works

The container yard was originally operated by straddle carriers but ACT has introduced RTG operations in this area. The design work included incorporation of the specific operating requirements of the RTGs including consideration of pavement grade and operational clearances.

The construction works for this project were completed in 2007.
