The Government of Peru called a tender for privatisation of the ports of Ilo and Matarani in southern Peru.

Cullen Grummitt & Roe together with P&O Ports Australia was commissioned by one of the tenderers, A. y F. Wiese S.A. of Lima, to asist in the preparation of the tender. CGR prepared the engineering components of the Client`s tender, while P&O provided operational and tactical advice.

Senior CGR staff from our Australian and Argentina offices visited the ports of Ilo and Matarani, together with P&O Ports personnel and representatives of the Client. Following this initial visit, CGR attended meetings with representatives of the Peruvian Ports Authority held in Lima.

Operational analyses of the ports were carried out including wharf and yard capacity assessments taking account of staged development plans to maximise each ports potential during the concession period. Drawings for various alternatives for staged development of the ports were also prepared as well as cost estimates.
