Description

Following on from a five to seven-year maintenance program developed by CGR for the Shell Products Wharf at Pinkenba in Brisbane in 1993, our engineers visited the site in 2003 to carry out a further condition survey to establish a maintenance program for the next three years.  The structure consists of a T head that supports the liquid lines, two berthing dolphins and two mooring dolphins.  The decks are constructed of timber and reinforced concrete and are supported on timber piles.

CGR’s services included:

  • A close inspection of all parts of the structure above water.
  • Liaison with a diving crew to record all maintenance issues below water.  Underwater video inspections were also used to identify defects.
  • Structural analysis of the wharf was undertaken to investigate the capacity of the wharf to service the increasing size of tankers using the facility.
  • Preparation of a technical scope of works for tender and assessment of the tenders.
  • Our work will include inspections and technical advice during the construction phase.
