Description

CGR supported TIL during its successful concession bid for development of a new, semi-automated container terminal at the Port of Ashdod, Israel. CGR prepared layouts and cost estimates for the concession bid as well as detailed construction schedules and sustainability plans for the infrastructure works.

Following the bid phase, CGR was commissioned to undertake the detailed design of this new container facility. The terminal consists of tow quays of 800m and 500m in length and 63ha of container stacking yards and associated facilities. The terminal is operated by Automatic Stacking Cranes (ASC) and includes an intermodal yard, a gate complex, an administrative building, workshop and operations buildings, customs facilities and wash down facilities. These infrastructure works were constructed on the finished reclamation platform following the completion of the construction works carried out on behalf of Israel Ports Development & Assets Company (IPC).

The scope of CGR's services included:

  • detailed design of the pavements and services works including the gate complex
  • outline design for building and electrical works (awarded as design and construct packages)
  • preparation of contract documentation
  • support during the tender process
  • involvement in final contract negotiations
  • technical on-site assistance and overview of the construction of the pavements and services works (supervised and managed by the Employer)
  • design reviews of alternative designs for elements of the pavements and services works proposed by the Contractor and other designers
  • technical support to the Employer as part of the construction and operation permitting process including participation at meetings with statutory authorities
