Description

Sokhna Port Development Company (SPDC) is the Build Own Operate and Transfer (BOOT) concession holder for the Phase 1 development at the Port of Sokhna.  The port is a deep water facility, located on the Red Sea approximately 40km south of Suez. The Phase 1 development includes 1500m of quay and associated back up yards for the handling of containers, dry bulk products, fertilisers and general cargo.

The team of Portia Management Services, Cullen Grummitt & Roe, HR Wallingford and Meateng was commissioned to complete a feasibility study related to the handling of livestock through the port.  SPDC planed to utilise the port facilities for the import of livestock, predominantly from Australia, and to develop a world class livestock handling facility within the port area.  The facility was to cater for up to 25,000 cattle and 100,000 sheep concurrently.

Cullen Grummitt & Roe’s role in the project included an assessment of the infrastructure required for the development of the livestock handling facility as well as an assessment of the development costs for the facility.
