We are pleased to announce that CGR (India) Pvt Ltd has been appointed by Bharat Mumbai Container Terminals Ltd (BMCT) to provide the engineering consultancy services for the planning, detailed design and tender management for the Phase 1 works of the development of the fourth container terminal at Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNPT), Mumbai, India.
BMCT, a subsidiary of PSA, was awarded the concession to develop the site by JNPT in May 2014.
The Phase 1 works, for which CGR has been commissioned to prepare the design and documentation, include the development of 1,000m of quay and approach bridges with supporting reclamation and dredging works to allow the operation of the container terminal. Layout planning including for the road and rail connections for these start up operations are also included in the works.
When fully developed and including the Phase 2 works, the fourth container terminal will provide 2,000m of berth length designed for the largest container vessels, container stacking yards and support facilities including intermodal rail yard, road connection and terminal buildings. The development will include dredging to create berths and a manoeuvring area.
