A new container terminal is to be constructed in Aliaga, near Izmir on the Aegean Coast of Turkey. The facility is set to be one of Turkey`s largest container and general cargo terminals. Nemrut Bay, where Petkim Port is situated, is one of the leading logistic centers in Turkey and has capacity and water depth for the world`s largest container ships. The Namrut Bay location gives Petkim Port a strong position to serve Aegean and Mediterranean industries and will ensure it becomes one of the world`s leading logistic centers.
CGR has been brought on board as the design consultant to assist APM Terminals with the preparation of Operator`s Requirements and Definition Drawings for the quay structure, excavation, reclamation, terminal buildings, dredging, navigation and site wide electrical. CGR has also prepared the Detailed Reference Design for the container yard, pavements, gate area and access road. The project entered the public domain on Monday 13th February with the signing of the Heads of Terms in Istanbul and a subsequent press release.
