Description

As part of the redevelopment process of Pier 3, Cullen Grummitt & Roe was commissioned to provide detailed design, site supervision and project management services for the strengthening of the rear crane beam at Pier 3, including the construction of new tie downs and jacking points, to accommodate new Postpanamax Quay Cranes.

The existing rear crane beam has 573 meters length. Several load cases were analysed to determine the extent of the required strengthening works, including the loads imposed by the two existing Post Panamax Gantry Cranes and the new heavier Post Panamax cranes.

The works included demolition works, soil movement, piling, construction of headstocks, anchors installation, steelworks and pavement works.

The works were carried out in different stages, coordinating with the Operations Management  of Terminales Río de la Plata, SA

All works carried out without interrupting the terminal operations.
